It a anime about a cat made in 1972. It's about a persiflage on the protest movements of the 60s. It's hero is the bold and sex-obsessed tom-cat Fritz the Cat, as created by the legendary underground artist Robert Crumb. Quitting university Fritz the Cat wanders through the hash, Black Panther and Hell's Angels scenes to find to himself.

I don't know why the other person said he was on tv, but Fritz the Cat was notorious as the first x-rated animated film in general release, back in the late 70's. The creator was Ralph Bakshi, who also created some great animated films: Wizards, Lord of the Rings (the 1st part only), American Pop, among others. Those I've mentioned are available on DVD.
