Take blue painters tape and mark off a wide enouigh area to protect from overspray using a straight edge. Remove the tape befor the paint completely dries or it may peel parts of the paint off with the tape.

it is best to use the blue painter's tape because masking tape does not stay sealed around the edges when it gets wet with the paint making rough lines instead of smooth.

Slide the can along something flat while you spray...? I don't know.

My idea is to use good masking tape to delineate the area(s).

Good luck.
