My friend deleted his computer administrator account to just have a
limited account. As you already know, this other type of account allows him to change just a few settings. He said that he opened a computer administrator account for his girlfriend, but he cannot find it now. As you can imagine, he cannot do almost anything with his limited account, so there is no way that he can create a computer administrator account, change his account type or re install windows XP. What can he do when he just has ONE account, but is limited?

Thanks for the answers. I will send all of the answers to him (need to translate them for him first) and I hope he can solve his problem. I met him through Yahoo question. Thanks again.

Have him reboot his computer in safe mode by pressing f8 as soon as the machine begins starting up. In safe mode the hidden "admin" account should appear. It doesn't have a password by default. Through that account he can change his account type and most likey find the G/F's account.

He has to open up the case, look on the motherboard and look for a round battery that looks similar to a watch battery. Now when he locates that, he needs to take it out and put it back in. This will reset his administrative settings, and open up all accounts.

First of all, why did he delete the admin account?
Can he go into control panel, users, and find the account there? Have him try that first.
You CAN reinstall Windows, you don't have to have the admin account for that, you can just do a repair install of it.
