can depend on the species, larger birds such as waterfowl would get there faster than a hummingbird. Also, some birds fly in flocks while others don't, which can affect fly time. Yes, they definitely take breaks along the way, sometimes they will stick around for hours or even days on their break depending on food availability.

EVERY living thing that I've heard of has to have rest for cellular regeneration. But, there IS an exception. The Shark!!
