Try this before you buy a new burner: Use the Device Manager to display the particular CD drive. Right click on that drive and choose "Uninstall". Do that, and then reboot the computer. Windows should find the CD drive as "new hardware", and install the driver for it again. Then try out the drive, and hopefully it'll recognize the CD. If this doesn't work you can always try one of those CD cleaner disks, but if it were me I'd just replace the drive, and you might as well install a combo DVD/CD drive while you're at it, since they're not very expensive at all. Good luck.

The best thing to do, is to restart your computer. It's wierd but sometimes it does work just by a simple restart.

If restarting doesn't work, try reinstalling the cd drive and updating the firmware from the manufacture. To reinstall the cd drive you have to go to device manager. To get to device manager you right click on "My Computer" click properties, select the hardware tab and click "Device Manager", under each plus find your CD burner and right click on your CD Burner and click uninstall, then restart your computer and reinstall it.

If that still doesn't work, it might be the type of CDs your putting into the drive, try putting a different type of CD or brand of cds. Sometimes this work but it's worth a try.

Other than those reason I don't know any other way to resolve this. Good Luck bro.

To remove the stuck cd, there is a teeny, tiny hole on the face of the drive, turn the power off, take a paper clip, bend it straight, and poke it into that little hole and feel for a latch, spring it and the drawer should open slightly, you then can pull it out the rest of the way by hand and remove your cd. After that follow Jolly's advice!

make sure the cd is clean..this usually happens when the cd is scratched or it's dirty..and it can't be read.. take it out, wash it and follow cleaning instructions (wipe with a soft tissue but not in a circular manner). try again.

if it's still not working, I'm wondering if the cd drive broke in some way. try another cd.

is the cd drive showing up in "my computer"? did you get into some kind of "safe mode"???

can't help you much further, sorry, not a techie.
