Anthropology is watching people do stuff - psychology is figuring out WHY they did it.
Personally I prefer studying psych (for entertainment value - not for any qualificatio or anything), because it never ceases to amaze me the obtuse reasons people do stuff or react to stimuli.
The idea that Andrea Yates drowned her children "to keep them safe" is one tragic, amazing case in point. But at least the right verdict was eventaully brought in -totally fruit-cake crazy, I think the diagnosis was.
