I've just moved to a new city and I'm trying to set up my home network on two computers. The internet connection is through a cable modem and into my linksys router and then into my computer(s). The first computer is fine and has been working without issue for a few weeks.

I tried to hook up the second computer today using the ethernet cord and the network setup wizard for xp and it isn't working. The local area connection icon is showing in the bottom right corner and it shows a speed of 100.0 Mbps, but it also shows the yellow triangle that says there is an error. (Limited or no connectivity).

I tried running the network setup wizard a few more times to no avail. I've tried repairing the connection and I keep getting an error that says that the IP address couldn't be found. What should I do?

hi
if it is connected and showing yellow icont that means the name of the system might be sam or the ipaddress might bne same try to change the ip address of the system and yes
if you are sharing throiught other nic in the system which is your server then go the the nic properties in any one and go in advance and click on let other computer share internet from this
try in both the nic one by one and check

hey do one more thing you will be given some ip address i think and gateway
if you have done with the ipaddress in the main system
just
type the ip in other system as 192.168.1.100 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 and in gateway the ipaddress of the system on which you have cionnected the net through bproad band

and if there is no ipaddress and you are working in dhcp server then try to give an ipaddress in main system as 192.168.1.100 subnet as same as above
and in second system give ipaddress 192.168.1.102 subnet the same and in gateway 192.168.1.100
always rember that both system should have diffrent gateway and if the ip adress is provided to you then just type the ipaddress of yoyr main system in the gateway of other system and the simple ipaddress which i have given in that
dns will be same in both systemany problem please mail me on madheart2@yahoo.com i will assist you

or try to kleep switch in between the connection to resolve it

Sound like a cable problem. But it could be a problem with the ethernet card on the computer. To check that go to Start>Settings>Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager to see if Windows is fully recognizing your network adapter. If it is, I'm voting on a cable problem.

run the network setup wizard, and set it up as this computer coneects to the internet through a hub, that should fix it, unless your cable co only allows one mac address at a time, then you willhave to set up internet connection sharing. the help for networking explains it well
