i've always wondered why....i mean is it just b/c they are brought up that way...or something else?

it's in a man's nature to be competitive--women should try to be MORE competitive--but not the usual BS--like hair, clothing, shoes and all that petty stuff...competition is healthy--and i'm a girl!

Watch where you throw those stereotypes miss, I know for a fact that women can be just as competetive if not more so than men. Some women are even higly competetive with their so-called best friends.

Its because of testosterone honestly. If you notice women Body builders use testosterone and are extremely competitive. Its just chemistry

Men are socialized to be competitive, girls are raised to be more docile. It's why boys are encouraged to play with GI Joes and play sports and girls are encouraged to play with Barbie's and play house.
