People and teachers/parents say that they don't want there kids playing video games, tho it may help with there hand/eye corination, it still stops them from "living" in a way,, but parents don't have to worry about that, as long as they set a guidline, like i did for my self, i play outside in the daytime, and stay energized, ect, and then at NIGHT when you can't go oustide, i'd play my games, after doing my chores!

If you think this will help tell me ok, i think it is helpful to me, so i don't get fat, and lose energy because i wanted to play a game!

I think most parents are worried more about the type of video games their children are playing and not so much how long they're actually playing them. These days there's so many games that involve shooting and destroying stuff which sends the wrong message to children. Some of these games glorify gangs and illegal activity and just indiscriminate killing and kids soak that stuff up. I think getting outside and engaging in other activities is a good thing. The key to becoming a well rounded individual is learning to set your priorities and goals. Yes video games do have their place, the hand eye coordination thing is a bonus, they also teach problem solving as well as concentration. I think you'll do just fine with your plan as long as you remember that there's more to life than video games.

video games are truly a double edged sord. no pun intended. some video games can in fact increase hand eye cordionation. not all of them however do. many times it depends largely on the game. fast driving games definatly boost hand eye cordnation and reaction time. rpgs such as final fantisy may actually promote litracy (u heard me! go play one and tell me theres not a whole books worth of dialoge in there!) platformers and other 3rd person games increase problem solving and stragetical thinking. on the negative side video games have almost all the same problems assosiated with them. about half are seen as too violent. a big problem is that u fall into them, and lose out on a normal life. videogames are not a substute for real friends, but sadly, many dont realise that. and they end up like comic book guy from the simpsons: fat and alone. there must be a balance

I am a hardcore gamer and i never worry about getting overweight at all, i workout 4 days a week and i am in great shape. I have great friends and i am very active. I don't play games all day, i only play for a few hours a day and i always make time for my family. Just don't let them take over your life and you will be fine. I love being a gamer and i plan on buying a ps3 in November for sure, my girlfriend and children love to play games with me and they are both straight a students, so no they don't rot your brain.

I think they're okay, as a general rule, but keep a close eye on WHICH games they are playing. The Grand Theft Auto series in particular is a bad one. Lots of drugs, violence (like running over hookers to steal the money back after you had sex with them), shooting people and cops. But a lot of good games are available out there.

This BBC article is all about how MMORPGs like runescape and others are actually really beneficial for most people if used responsibly. They did a 3-year study into it at some university, so if you're interested in finding out more check out

I think that is perfect....as long as you get fresh air and exercise...respect your parents, do your homework and chores, why not relax with your video games.....

video games rot out your brain and make you do insane things.
for example, players often find themselves writing stupid questions online.
