I personally think the company should be fined for this garbage. They should've worked harder to maintain the pipes.

I don't believe it for one DAMN minute! I think it's all a hoax! I lived in Anchorage Alaska, and they kept up the pipelines! The state made it a BIG deal that they kept up the lines because they didn't want any environmental accidents, like the tanker "Valdez". I think these oil companies are thinking "Hey, we can get away with 3.00$ a gallon, why not 4...why not 6...why not 10?" You watch! We're all going to be walking pretty soon. The rich are getting richer, and pretty soon, the rest of us will all be working for them!

Do your research. BP didn't build the pipelines. They actually just purchased them recently. So if you want to blame someone for this, blame Amoco, Exxon Mobile, etc.
And second, what do you do for a living? Do you really need to be driving your car as much as you do? Americans need to lay off the juice and drive their cars when they NEED to, not when they're too lazy to hop on their bike.
Third. BP is one of the leading investors worldwide in renewable energies. They have purchased a solar panel company, and are investing huge amounts of money into research in several alternative power fields.
So lay off of BP, and get your lazy butt onto a bicycle.

Not really. The price of oil will go up because of this, but since one of their major fields is down, they will be unable to take advantage of this.

I actually think it's kinda heads up for them to avoid a bigger problem by trying to ignore the corrosion, or just gloss over it. Exxon recovered well enough from the Valdez fiasco, so why shouldn't BP risk something similar? They choose not to, so my hat's off to them.

I did make it a point to fill both vehicles today, however.

You can't win for loosing. Jeese people! Can't you see that BP did the right thing by shutting the pipe be4 it turned into a pipeline-Valdez? Nobody thanks industry when they do the right thing, they only complain about the wallet. I bet those same folks would be pitching a Bish if they saw a huge oil spil up there.
