Yes DVD-R is correct. I burn them all the time using my Pinnacle Systems Studio Version 8 Software or the Nero Make a Movie software that came with my DVD Burner.
I burn the movie and then it plays just fine on my DVD Player. First your DVD Burner must be able to burn DVD-R not just DVD+R and then your DVD Player must be able to play DVD-R also.
Hope this helps.

Hai, if u r having nero software.when u start the nero it will ask which data to write in that select the type movie or some thing related to that. and it will ask for the files to be selected, which will internally create the directories. if u r doing what i am saying there may be problem with the speed of the CD and speed of ur drive. or try writing on another new cd because some cd's may be damaged while they come from the industry. if this solution is not working forgive me .bye

The type of disk is not a major concern right now, first you have to figure out why your computer won't allow you to burn to it. What type of program are you using to decrypt your DVD, what program are you using to try to burn the movie.
I also burn movies, and the programs that I use, make it extremely easy. I will work with you to get you up and burning. Please respond and let me know what programs you are using.

dvd-r is correct. The 'r' means you can only use it once, whereas dvd-rw means it's rewritable.
Usually it's quite easy to do using Nero, you just need to follow the instructions.
You need to give more details first, then we can help you. Do you have Nero installed?

if you are trying to burn a copyrighted movie to a dvd disk, you have to have the illegal software, cause it is illegal.
If you are trying to burn home made movies, you have to see what kind of disks your burner uses, ansd see if it can burn on -r disks. You don't say what kind of error, answers are going to be limited
