Please help me to make a proposal in our church to have ministry a sunday school for mental retarded for I know that they are really important. And I believe also what is stated in Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and come short for the glory of God.", and because of that i believe also that they need to know the Way of Salvation!!

One, no one uses the term mental retard anymore.
Two, he/she deserves the same as any other human being; Sunday school being part of their education too.

I work with people with mental disabilities and the little girl i take care of is going to a christian collage to become a Sunday school teacher. Yes they have the right to go to church, any church they would like to. but it has to be there choice. And I have found that they probably have sinned less than the so called normal population Most churches welcome them with open arms You are on the right track you might look in to doing some volunteer work with a group for mentally disabled people I love working with them. they are gifts from God

I hope and pray that you will succeed with your plans for that. I know that it would be great. I worked for a few months in Arkansas at a place called Conway Human Development Center which is a place designed to help severe to moderately mentally disabled adults and there was a church there, and many of the clients went, we may not know how much of it they understood, but I imagine they understood more than we think.
Good luck getting your ministry going!!

The majority of the mentally handicapped know they are not like regular society. Grouping them in a special Sunday School class Will just alienate them and their families. They want to be a part of mainstream society. Yes, they are important members of society and as such should be treated with dignity and love, not sequestered in a 'Special Class' away from their friends at church.

You desire to make a loving gesture but it is a bit misguided. I understand your desire to see these individuals receive the Word, but the Word needs to be given in fellowship.

People who are mentally retarded will goto heaven by default.
Just as children will. For they are unable to make decisions with a sound mind. The bible also states there is no sin in ignorance.

Especially if the circumstances cause someone to be unable to be accountable for their actions.

First know that they don't like to be called retarded.. they like to be called mentally handicapped. And second, know that they like to be treated like everyone else. My cousin goes to church at a normal church and enjoys herself just fine. Just because they are slow does not mean that they don't understand. And if they can't understand, there is a good chance that having a special class won't help. I have faith that God will not let any of these parish that cannot understand his word. God is a just and loving and I don't think that he would let a person burn in hell for eternity because they couldn't possibly understand.. just as I don't think that a baby that dies goes to hell.

GEEZ. WHERE'S YOUR CHRISTIANITY AND YOUR COMPASSION? YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO OVERLOOK THESE KINDS OF DISABILITIES AND HELP WHERE AND WHEN NEEDED. BY THE GRACE OF GOD, THERE GO I. THAT COULD VERY EASILY BE YOU OR A CLOSE RELATIVE. HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF SOMEONE SPOKE ABOUT THEM THE WAY YOU JUST DID? SHAME ON YOU.

i agree with the first and second answers. you don't need to start any thing until you know how to talk about people correctly.
