Are these over the counter painkillers such as Motrin or Tylenol or are these prescription drugs prescribed by a doctor? Be more specific about the drug, dosage, frequency, etc.

Generally if she has a headache, it's ok to take a few Motrin or Tylenol once in awhile although I believe Tylenol is better. No need for her to suffer through the occasional ache or pain just because she is pregnant. Now if she is popping them all day long, every day, I'd say no way. At 12 weeks most of the fetus' body systems are developed so an occasional over the counter drug is generally acceptable but really the person to ask is your wife's OB or a pharmacist.

Well this is a critical time for your baby, forming it's brain, heart, and all. This isn't good for the baby at all. Especially the Oxycontin. Is this your first child? If so, it's almost twice as bad. That's why REAL doctors try to avoid any type of dental, medical deli mas and so on while your pregnant because you can't use pain killers. It will effect your child and if some doctors check her blood and actually knew what was going on in some states they would take your child away. It's the same as doing cocaine or any drug. It is call child endangerment. Maybe she needs to STOP BEING SELFISH AND A CRACK HEAD AND GET SOME HELP. SHE CANT BE IN THAT MUCH PAIN. BUT THAT BABY IS GOING TO BE. SO SAD FOR HIM/HER

You need to specify which painkiller she is taking. Some are ok, if you take a limited amount (my OB ok'd Vicodin for my migraines, but no more than 2 a day). Others can be dangerous depending on the trimester she is in. Some painkillers can also affect red blood cell production.

If the pain killers say "DO NOT TAKE WHEN PREGNANT" then don't take them because they will harm the baby. It could cause the baby to not develop properly or a miscarriage. You always talk to your doctor before starting medication, especially when your pregnant.

it depends what type of pain killer is it? Is it a prescription pain killer did the doctor know she was pregnant? You have to take into consideration that anything that she takes the baby also takes. Ive heard of doctors telling their pregnant patients to not take anything other than Tylenol. I myself would not take anything. If it is only a one time thing that she only usually takes occasionally and her ob/gyn knows that she is taking it then yes i would take it but i would take it only when absolutely necessary.

Im 7 months and my doctor says that i can only take Tylenol. any other meds such as aspirin,Motrin,Excedrin, etc. contains too much aspirin and can harm the baby. check with the doctor before taking ANY new medicines.

My docs always told me not to take anything unless i had to. Tylenol was o.k, but nothing else like Motrin. I know my sister took something that says not to take but the doc, Say its o.k. The drug companies just cover their back ,

are you stupid? It says don't take while pregnant and if she hasn't already damaged the fetus inside her, continuing to take them could hurt it worse...you kinda answered your own question at 'that say do not take while pregnant'. the only painkillers she could take, if need be, is plain tylenol. and once she get farther along benedryl is ok
