I saw a bug that starts out as a large green bug, then overnight turns into a brown bug with a shell. The bug also has what appears to be lobster claws after it turns brown.

There are millions upon millions of different insect species. It is kind of hard to identify the one you saw based on the information you have provided. Best bet is for you to do a Yahoo search for "kansas insects" (substitute the name of the state you live in for your search and include the quotation marks). You will have lots of site specific websites to explore with pictures and descriptions of local insects.

Good luck with your search for information.

Have no idea. Suggest you ask an entomologist ( bug expert). If you live near a University they probaly have one there. Or call your localCooperative Extesion Service. They have bug people there.
