It's more salty than sweet, but I would say it's a bitter metallic taste.

Blood has a metallic taste to it.
I would imagine due to the iron content in it.

tastes like iron....at least mine does....if i cut myself or something i always lick the blood off on the way to the bathroom to grab peroxide
