When I was 31, my mom was diagnosed with lung cancer in Oct '92 and passed away April 93. My father was RE-diagnosed with the same cancer that cost him his larynx in '82, in August of '93 and he passed away July of '94. Now those 2 things are tragic in themselves but in between my mother and my father deaths, my youngest sibling and only sister was hit by a car while riding her bike and killed. That was April '94 and she was 25.
The next few yrs were pretty tough emotionally but my 4 brothers and I became closer and more supportive of each other. We always manages to get our families together and celebrate either Thanksgiving or Christmas ever since.

Wow, there have been a lot of sad things in my life, though they have only made me stronger. I will skip over a lot of the REALLY sad ones, but one that stands out is when my step-mom died while I was a missionary living across the country. She and I had not gotten along for a lot of years and before I had a chance to let her know I'd let all my resentment and anger towards her go, she passed away unexpectedly. She was 42 and had five young children with my dad (the youngest wasn't quite two when she died). That was a tough one, but I know she knows how I feel and so I'm okay with it. But, it took a lot of work to get through that.
