1/2 divide by 2/3.
well first u need to: switch to multiplication. 1/2 x 2/3
second: reverse second number: 1/2 x 3/2. (reverse 2/3 to 3/2) always reverse the second set.
third: Multiply across: 1 x 3= 3 and 2x2=4 the answer is 3/4.

the problem before this one: (11/2) / (2/3)

11/2 x 2/3
11/2 x 3/2

11x3= 33
2x2 =4

33/4

try this site... its a little confusing, but my method is at the bottom of the site. http://www.themathpage.com/ARITH/multiply-fractions-divide-fractions-2.htm

Mechanically, without the theoretical explanation:

If you are going to divide Fraction 1 by Fraction 2:

METHOD 1

1. Put fraction 1 next to fraction 2
2. Invert Fraction 2. Leave fraction 1 the way it is
3. MULTIPLY the top two numbers ( the top of fraction 1 and the "new" top of fraction 2.
4. MULTIPLY the bottom two numbers (the bottom of fraction 1 and the "new" bottom of fraction 2.
5. Divide the top product by the bottom product.

Then comes the good stuff:

METHOD 2

Start applying the old stuff like simplifying fractions.

Example of Method 1:

4/7 divided by 24/14

Step 1:

4/7 . 24/14

Step 2:

4/7 . 14/24

STEP 3:

4/7 X 14/24

= 56 / 168

= 28/84 (dividing top and bottom by 2)

= 14/42 (dividing again by 2)

= 7/21 (dividing again by 2)

= 1/3 (dividing by 7)

Method 2

Same as Method 1 until step 2 but then you simplify the fractions

4/7 divided by 24/14

Step 1

4/7 . 24/14

Step 2

4/7 . 14/24

Step 3 (simplify)

divide the 4 and 14 (on the tops) by 4, giving a result of 14. at the same time, you divide the bottom numbers at the same time by 4 giving you 7 times 6 (24 divided by 4)

then

divide the top and the bottom by 7, giving you a result of 2 on the top, and 6 on the bottom.

that gives you 2 over 6, which is 1 over 3

you have your first fraction and your second fraction. turn the second fraction up side down (this is called the reciprocal) and multiply it by the first fraction. Example
4/7 divided by 2/3
4/7 divided by 3/2
this equals 12/14.
I'm pretty sure that how it'd done.

We use an acronym K-C-F

K: Keep
C: Change
F: Flip

Keep the first fraction, change the sign to multiplication, and flip the second fraction upside down.

Change the sign and reverse the 2nd fraction. Remember that and you've got it made. Other people on here are making it way too difficult.

Easy! Just flip the numbers the second fraction and multiply!

The way I do it, is to change the fractions into decimal places.

for example 11/2=5.5 and 3/5

So the problem :

= (11/2) / (2/3)
= 5.5 / .6
= .92
