No. The Sims 2 is a fully-fledged game - and has its own expansion packs like the previous Sims 1 Games did - i.e. The Sims 2 - Night Life is an expansion Pack for the Sims 2.

no, It's a better game than sims. I would know I play it all the time. It has it's own expansion pack.

my little sister told me you have to have the sims 1 in order to get the sims 2 so i guess it is an expansion pack

nope, compleatly different games with compleatly different expansion ppacks
I highly recomend you buy it, after makieng sure your computer ca handle the graphics and stuff, it's great with all the expansion packs!
