Sure, with time the new government would become corrupt now, and it'd be a short term fix, but it'd be better than what we have now. I am not talking about replacing each politician, as is currently practiced, because that doesn't work. I mean new laws, new everything. Maybe we should just keep the constitution, but maybe even that should be replaced.

And how can we ensure that the people will not be led to vote for the politicians that those in power want elected, as is the case now every election? Wooh. This is a tough question to ask.

whew..,..even tougher to answer. Our founding fathers said that if it failed to work, we needed to overthrow and start over. But when we "radicals" brought that up during the Viet Nam War, we were classified as traitors, and monitored closely by all police depts., FBI, etc.
I honestly think that the best we can do is try to find "honest" people running for office (now there's an oxymoron, isn't there?), and vote them in and PRAY like the devil is on our tails. I think that the corruption is too invasive and that it permeates our whole society. I imagine we'll eventually be "overthrown" by another nation (s), and within a few hundred years, the once powerful USA will have gone the way of the Roman empire.

There are a few ways to end corruption in the government.

1. Take away the politicians ability to profit from striking deals with big business and lobbying groups and rich elitists.

2. Lower the salaries of all politicians significantly to about what the average teacher in America makes. This way we can weed out the politicians who come to government only to fill their own pockets and serve their own interests.

Politicians should be in office for the welfare of the people, not for the perks and the undeserved overpaid salaries.

3. Do away with the republic system in which we elect representatives to represent us. Politicians should serve only in an advisory role only. We need a full democracy in America. We tout democracy all the time in this country but we don't have one.

Take away the power of the Congress and put it in the hands of the people. Let the people decide how much taxes to pay and where our taxes should go and when to go to war or not.

Let us decide if our politicians need raises every year when the minimum wage has remained the same for ten years in spite of inflation.

4.Lets do away with redistricting and gerrymandering. One man, One vote. Everything should be decided by popular vote including electing a candidate to the office of president.

5.We live in a technological age far advanced then the one this country was born in. We should be using the internet to vote and keep tabs on our government.

I believe if we take these five steps, we can rout the majority of corruption that takes place in today's government.

If you want to end corruption, then you need to make our government not so based in money. Corruption comes from money and power. You get both when you're in government. And the people with money know that, and come calling to tempt the others.

Take either money or power out of the equation, and you will have far less corruption. But good luck on doing that. . .

Duh! There are a lot of countries doing this right now! Why do you think we are still in Iraq.
Russia is having a terrible time.
Country's have been trying this for along time. What about Israel?
How many people has the United states supported to get a democracy in only to have them start up a dictatorship.
What is wrong with our constitution that we have?. We just have to find politicians that will uphold it, the way it was written. If it is wrong , we amend it.

well, there's no reason to believe that the new government would be less corrupt than the existing one, and alot of reasons to believe it would be much worse if we got a whole new government today. For instance, our current government has had over 200 years to work the bugs out. And today, special interests and corporations have alot more power than they did 200 years ago. This makes corrupion much more likely in a new government.

You state "Maybe we should just keep the constitution, but maybe even that should be replaced." What would you replace it with? Are you a product of the U.S. Public School System? What we need are citizens who embrace our Democratic System & who strive to do everything in their power to stay on track & to get others who have fallen off the track to get back on it & then our country has a chance to pull itself back together. We, as U.S. Citizens, need to STOP being liars, thieves, cheats & procrastinators. When we see criminal activity, we need to stop looking the other way & report crimes. We need to start reporting people who commit tax fraud by working & employing people "under the table" for cash. In short, we don't NEED a new system, we just need to go back to enforcing the one that everyone has forgotten about. The one that stresses English as our first language & if everyone learns the language of the land, then they will have less problems understanding & learning our way of life in America. Just like our Immigrant Ancestors had to learn, so must all that come to live in America. We must enforce this first & foremost!

There is a line from the movie " V is for Vendetta", that is relevant to this question. It is " the people should not fear the government, the government should fear the people".
ROLE OUT THE GUILLOTINE, is my motto. Why is it that we believe that the revolution is over? The French way is the current cure. Corruption is a disease, and the only cure is to cut off the head.

It usually depends on what kind of government is corrupt, and what will replace it, and how it will be replaced. Usually governments that start out as coup d etats usually don't do good, and that's why they are corrupt. However governments that peacefully step down fropm power and gets replaced by another peacefully usually does well. Communism, military regimes, and dictatorships usually are the most corrupt ones, though democracy and parliament usually do well.

Sure by replacing the entire government system we should be out of a recension. Look how many government jobs their are. Most of them have meeting so they can have a raise on their paycheck for a "Cost of Living" increase. While theirs thousands of single parents that are working min. wadge.
But I am sure that greed will get back. And our Government will be corrupted.

Watch the people who can effectively challenge the entrenched politcal leadership. I am impressed by Jeff Flake, for example. He is making a mark opposing earmarks and lobbying. If control of Congress passes, there will be a big shake up in Republican leadership. Find the candidates of either party that get a maverick label. If they are not independent, boot em.
