cen was really cocky & got it wrong. & length x width x height is for volume, not area. i had 5544 myself by the same solving & it was confirmed. thanks diane, points coming your way.

If the field is 50 yards by 100 yards, then that must be the inner dimensions of the walkway. That translates to 150 feet by 300 feet. Since the walkway is 6 feet wide, the outer dimensions must be 162 feet by 312 feet. (Do you see why you need twice the width of the walkway?)
If you sketch this, you'll see that the walkway is basically a rectangle 312' by 162' with a rectangular hole 300' by 150'. So the area of the walkway would be the area of the outer rectangle minus the area of the inner:
(312' x 162') - (300' x 150') = 50544 sq. ft - 45000 sq ft = 5,544 square feet.
Sketching problems like this is always a good idea.

50 yards equals 150 feet. 100 yards equals 300 feet. So your field is 150 ft wide by 300 feet long. That is the inside measurement. Your walk is 6 feet wider on all sides. That means that you would have an area of 6 X 150 X 2 for the two end pieces (answer 1800 sq ft), PLUS 6 X 312 X 2 for the two side pieces (answer 3744 sq ft). For a grand total of 5544 sq ft.

Okay. Got it.
You have two rectangles. One is 50 yards by 100 yards, or 5000 square yards. The other is 54 yards by 104 yards, or 5616 square yards.
The surface of the walk is 616 square yards. Multiply that by 9 and you get 5544 square feet of surface on the walk.

Well 6 feet is equal to 2 yards.... so the total around is going to be 54 x 104 which equals 5616 yards. The field itself is 50 x 100 which equals 5000 yards. 5616 - 5000 = 616 yards for the yardage of the walkway. Multiply that by 3 to get 1848 for the square footage of the walkway.
Hope that helped.

Convert all the yards to feet, by multiplying them all by 3. The easiest way to solve it is to draw out a picture. Then divide the walkway into four rectangles. Find the area of all four of those rectangles (length times width) and add them all together. By doing that, I come up with 5,544 square feet.

Area=Length times width times height. 100 yards X 50 yards = 5,000.. Now 6 Feet = 2 yards. (3' = 1 yard)..So 5,000 X 2 =
10,000 Square Feet

Area = total are of the field(including the concrete) - area of the field alone)
note: 1 yard = 3 feet
Area = 312*162-300*150
now, at least do your calculation....

u have 2 use the perimeter. I just don't know how cuz I'm only 13. Maybe add 6 yards 2 the whole area then subtract 50*100?

The rectangle in feet is 150 feet by 300 feet.
There are four concrete walks. Two of them are 6 feet by 150 feet, and two are 6 feet by 300 feet.
2*[(6*150) + (6*300)] =
2*[900 + 1800] =
2*2700 =
5400
