honestly i would go for the AMD but in this case INTEL why because the AMD Sempron is a good processor but its in the intel Celeron category of processors and an Intel Core Duo processor has the potential of the Pentium line of processors. sure its 1.6ghz but its not a megahertz race anymore its about performance per wat. i have an intel core solo at 1.73 and its compared to a 2.8pentium4 ht. and ihave a 2mb cache which helps alot. the AMD sempron only has 256kb while the Intel core duo is diliviering 2MB L2 cache total. plus you have two cores no one. so image having 2 cores at 1.6 if the 1.6 can be compared at about 2.6ghz pentium 4 x 2 that would be about 5.2 total gigahertz total output power. apple has recently gone to the intel chips cause of this. lower power consumption high out put processors. these intel core duo and intel core 2 duo processors are some lean mean processing machines.

The Core Duo of course, AMD Sempron is a cheaper version of the AMD Athlon, it's kind of like Intel Celeron in realtime comparison.

I'm a diehard AMD fan but in this case the Intel will out pace the Sempron.

I would go with the sempron, it does have a higher opperating hertz than the intel. AMD in most areas is better than intel. However, they are both good in different areas, if you're just askin for all out "speed" it's definitely the sempron.

The intel will most likely be a little faster, but the better processor is the AMD (runs cooler and is good processor, my laptop has the same one).
