Well if you just bought it then this is going to be real easy.

Im pretty sure ur brother didn't totally mess up ur computer and it can be fixed easily but since im not sitting in front of ur computer rite now, i can't fix the problem itself.

If you just bought the computer and if its windows xp, then go to start - programs - accessesories- system tools - system restore.

restore your computer back to a previous state, like a day or 2 before.

Other option is that if u just bought the computer then u might not have many important files and documents on it. So you can reformat the whole computer itself (delete everything). It might have a special recovery tool which restores it to its company sealed state, like sony vaio computers have vaio recovery option. If not you can use your system restore disk that came with your computer to do it, or you can install xp again (installing xp again will give the option of reformatting the computer, but it will loose the special software that your computer might have come with).

after reformatting, be sure to get a anti spyware software, antivirus, and update your computer and drivers!

If it is brand new and you havn't had time to put things of importance on it so just start fresh. While it is booting up bang on either (can't remember on HP's) F8 or F10. It will ask you if you want to use Windows restore and check no. It will ask you f you want to do a partial restore or the one that deletes all files. Pick the delete all files. Once this is done the computer will be as the day you took it out of the box. No viruses, no spyware, nothing which Windows restore cannot do, you will have a clean slate. After that if little bro is going to use your computer go to users and password your user acccount and creat one for him but take away "administrator" rights in the check boxes. If the F8 thing doesn't work it probably came with restore disks that do the same thing

Well, what are the things he did to tell you how to undo them?

Anyway, there is always an easy way out.
HP comes with a "Recovery" option...

Once you start the PC, you get a blue screen with the "HP Invent" Logo in the center. At the Bottom-Right corner of hte screen, there are three shortcuts:
- Boot Squence/Order
- Bios Settings
- Recovery

Next to each one is the shortcut key to hit to activate the desired function..
So, once the computer starts, hit the associated button before the screen goes away and Windows starts loading...then follow the steps to setting the PC in a "Factory Set" mode...

Hope this answers your question....

Hello go to system tools look for system restore but have a parent there to help, not sure of your age. Click that and pick a time or date before your brother touched it. After you do that It will return to that point and anything he did should be corrected. Then keep him away from the computer leave it off when you are not using it. Take care ~A~

If it's a new PC call the place you bought it or HP and have them talk you through doing system restore. You can also look it up in Windows Help and follow the steps on your own, but since it's new the others will probably help for free.

Sounds like you need to perform a system restore, which can be done like so:
Press start, go to all programs, then go to accessories, then go to system tools, then click system restore.
Select the button to restore my computer to an earlier time and click next.
Find a restore point from an earlier date on the calender when your computer was running well (before your brother did that something)
Then select one of the restore points, click next, and follow the directions to complete the system restore.
Hope that helped, i think it should.

if you have windows xp or newer you can go to start>all programs>accessories>systems tools> systems restore. be sure to make a back up disk of anything you want to keep that you might have put on the pc. just restore it back to a date when it was working fine.

Look for a way to do a "Restore", that takes you back to an earlier setting. I sometimes use the McAfee or Registry Mechanic programs to do a restore. Hope this helps.
