I have 5 large trees on the front lawn- I don't know exactly what type. One of them has bark falling off of the top branches and looks like the leaves are thinning. Some branches are bare. The yard was in much disrepair when we purchased the house 2 months ago, there seems to be fungus on the lawn and there is soil erosion. I had a "tree specialist" come out and he said it needed to be cut down, no hope for it, but he is also a tree trimmer/cutter person and he would benefit from cutting the tree. Is there any way to save it? How do I know it is truly dying? This person also told me the tree was sick and would kill off all the other trees. It does have ants/earwigs crawling about it. I also have another tree with mushrooms around the base and I have mushrooms on the lawn! Any advice, please?
