It is really hard to live with someone for a long time and each be on the same track as the other..rare..and even more rare..to completely compromise, unless it is for the good of the family you both are raising, for instance.Sometimes you are just going with the flow, one foot before the other, and then you realize the differences are way out of allignment. This is when you need outside help..way outside of the family........therapy maybe,if you believe in the one thing that brought you two together.Wow,that even makes sense to me....

Yes, sometimes there has to be double standards just because everyone can't always handle the same kinds of things.

if one has a standard and the other has a their standard the duality would be to impose ones standard over the others standard. then not following your own. if theyre doing your standard set of rules, or youre doing what you want as an individual then youre being yourself. "do as i say, not as i do" is a double standard.

No. There is compromise, but standards in a relationship cannot be different for each party. It defeats the point entirely.

IF you mean double standards as to the man can have fun but you dont, or he can have multiple partners but you cant...then I say no. What is good for one should be good for the other.

No, I don't believe in double standards in anything. What is good for the goose is good for the gander. If you ever heard that expression.
