'House' is an actual single building with bedrooms and such. 'Home' is much broader--possibly a condominium, a duplex, a cardboard box, a dorm room, a shack, etcetera. 'Home' can also be an intangible place where one feels safe, secure, happy, comfortable, etcetera.

Your Home is a House
My Home is a House,
Your Home is where you live with your family. You say"I live at HOME with my father and mother or my husband or my children." You do NOT say, "I live at House with my mother and father."

A house is traditionally considered a dwelling with certain identifiable characteristics (two-story, Craftsman, Ranch, Earth-Contact). They are best described in cold, passionless terms.

Homes, on the other hand, are best described in an emotional context. Homes trigger images of family gatherings, holidays, play, growing up, celebrations, graduations, grief, joy , love and longing. Homes give a sense of belonging. Homes anchor a person to a place and time.
