when you open your hearts and go into the depths of your soul you'll find immense love which will connect you to everything else in the universe...
Solitude is a discovery of the self ...and a way towards self expression and realization..
its solitude that makes you fall in love and merge with another soul...solitude is the way and love is the destination..
what is love but a union with the Spirit (cosmic spirit)...
frankly.............
its a very challenging question to answer...atleast for me!
you got me thinking...now thats one more thing I like about you other than your gorgeous smile:)
awww...the smile on your avatar melts my heart everytime I see it!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes. It is felt by all. Why cuz we are feeling human beings. We have hearts and we are born into this world with the capability to feel emotions.
But...........the cause of it is only an erroneous idea that we are separate from existence. When the understanding that we are part of this universe and deeply connected to everything in it comes, tremendous love arises from inside us.
Acceptance of loneliness transforms it and what was avoided and fought turns out to be a friend. Loneliness dissolves like a morning dew in the sun. It becomes impossible to feel lonely when Love arises in our hearts and our connection to the universe is felt.

Humans may be technologically 'advanced' and 'civilized,' but with affairs of the heart don't we fail miserably? We learn that to be vulnerable and share our heart is dangerous and scary.....so we build walls to keep ourselves 'safe.' Isn't lonliness really the longing for deep intimacy and connection with another? We so long for communion -- but without authentic, open, and trusting communication, we just keep hitting our head against the wall. We open up and share our deeper selves, only to be decieved...or more subtly have our hearts treated insensitively or roughly. We long for tenderness and get shallowness and harshness instead.
All this being said, I know that true communion is possible and that there ARE people out there who are capable of holding another's heart in the highest esteem, with no intention to harm. So no, I don't think lonliness is an inescapable fact of the human condition. But I think it's good to be very careful and choosy about who you trust with your heart, and that it's far better to be lonely than vulnerable (re; miserable) with the wrong person.

No. Because 90% of loneliness is self produced and/or allowed. One has a choice in the matter. Human beings are social creatures yes, but even when alone one doesn't need to suffer being lonely.

I think you are limiting the question by only isolating it to humans. I think it pertains to all social animals. Since a social animal requires other animals of its kind for survival it is genetically wired to seek others like it. Most likely related in the pleasure/pain principle of learning whereby other animals like it secrete chemicals that give a pleasurable sensation.
The odd thing is that in todays wold humans can feel alone when surrounded by swarms of other humans. In the historcal record loneliness is usually occompanied by the loss of a loved one or isolations/ostracization from the social group.
An interesting question would be what in the modern world causes humans to be lonely even though surrounded by other humans?

I believe that the human condition vaires on the Nature vs Nurture aspect of it. This means that some people may be predisposed to lonliness while others are not. Some people may never feel it while others feel it all the time. Psychology plays a big part.

Loneliness is most often a result of choice. Loneliness most often makes one live life hopelessly. It definitely can be evaded, all we need is the right choice...right move. Choose to move with people, choose to live in the company of others. It gives a false sense of satisfaction or peace.

Great question! I believe the answer is: Yes
Why?..... because us humans intimately feel lonely in God's creation, for the simple fact that we are capable of reflect on it., and that unavoidably makes us forget that we are part of it too.
Have you seen the movie "Contact", based on the book by Carl Sagan?
The central idea is our erroneous feeling of loneliness.

No. loneliness is not, but solitude could be.
If you have someone in your mind you will never feel lonely even if you are all alone by yourself.

yes. without pain, you won't be able to realize pleasure. how will you feel acceptance and love from others when you haven't realized loneliness? you will only be able to yearn for the love of others when you feel the emptiness inside of you.
