He has always maintained that he WILL retire as a Yankee. Cooperstown has told him that they will decide which really pissed Clemens off. Cooperstown told him that they think he will go in as a Red Sox. Clemens said that he did all the work and sacrificed his life to the game and no one but he will decide. He also said that if it's not his final decision he won't go to the ceremony when he's inducted. This was BIG news in New York while he was still pitching there.

I suspect that, like Dave Winfield, Roger will be "encouraged" to go into the Hall with the team he started out with - and spent the most time pitching for. If he could, he may even want to be enshrined as an Astro, as a local Alvin lad. Most fans (perhaps) still associate him more as a Red Sox player than a Yankee. A split cap?

Red Sox. He spent the most time with that team and aside from winning a world series, had his best years there. 2 games with 20 strike outs, 3 cy youngs. He is still fond of Boston too. He will retire as a Red Sox.

I think he'll go in as a Yankee only on the basis of the ring...but even as a New Yorker, he'll always be a Red Sox to me, and since that's where he spent most of his career, I think he should go into the hall as a Red Sox (ok, so what's the singular of Red Sox, anyway? Red Soc?)

The Hall of Fame will decide. They will pick the Red Sox.

Yankees. Players measure their career on how many Championships they won. Dan Marino, Jim Kelly are examples of great all time players in their sports but yet will always be knocked on because they never won their championship. Shaq is one of the greatest ever because he wins championships. Now i'm not saying Roger wouldn't be an all time great if he hadn't won with the Yankees, i just think even he knows which team he owes the most to.
