why do people jave to be cruel to fatt people?

OMG. Thanks for asking this. I've actually seen questions on here that literally said, "y do fat girls think that guys like them for their mind, its not like they like them theyre just desperate because all of them are so fat and have some selfrespect".
Many people accept different races, religions, etc. but then a fat person comes along and they act like a jerk.
I could get on my soapbox for a long time but to answer your question, people feel the need to ridicule people who are different in any way. I'm not a psych major but I just think they are intimidated by people that are different - they don't understand them.
Also, I gotta say that fat people do not necessarily eat MORE. Sometimes they don't eat enough, forcing their body to go into starvation mode and slow down metabolism and not burn fat as effectively. Also, it's what they eat a lot of the time. Instead of an apple, they go for a serving of fries. It's complicated.

Well first it depends on what you define as fat. Is it morbidly obese or just overweight.

Concerning morbidly obese I think people are rude because they see it as a moral and character flaw.

First the moral flaw, judeo-christion gluttony and greed. A person is consuming more than they need.

Second the character flaw.. its is viewed as a lack of self restraint.


Now regarding people who are simply overweight. People tend to demonize something they fear becoming. In our image conscious world someone obsessed with their own weight will use an overweight person to make themselves feel better and reinforce their desire to continue on their regimne that prevents them from becoming overweight.

Interesting story. I'm 6 ft tall and weigh 150lbs...skinny by american standards. I was visiting vietnam and I was constantly called a fat American. Yes I was bigger than that most of the men.

This story adds a completely different aspect. A social, ethical, and moral dimension. Why is it ok for you to be fat when I go hungry and struggle just to find food?

This can even be construed as an environmental issue. Imagine if all people were highly obese. What strain would overconsumption place on the environment?

It is not simply an issue of we are different but we are the same like say race.

It seems that some people are for whatever reason(s) predisposed to being chubby.

But there are also the porkers who really overdo it. If I see some 400lb person driving an electric shopping cart around the supermarket and the basket contains 10 pints of ben & jerrys and 10 boxes of snack cakes, there isn't much mystery about how they got that way.

Unfortunately, that's just human nature. It applies to anyone who is different from what is perceived to be "normal" in numerous ways, not only towards those individuals which are large.

On the other side of the coin however. Most are aware of such things, typically from a very young age onward.... Allowing oneself to become or to stay large, why would they expect everyone else to change???

I agree. Plus I think instead of everyone freaking out about their weight maybe it would be easier to just start liking overweight ppl instead of all the damn excercising and trying not to eat too much. People say they do that because it's about being healthy but that is a load of crap.

Honest to heck, people who are fat are not always the prettiest things on the planet. You know what really drives me crazy? Fat people who tease skinny people for being skinny. It makes me sick. It should be the other way around, instead of the skinny person feeling like they have committed a crime.

A lot of people arn't mean to fat people because they are fat, my theory is that many fat people are overbearing and have many personality flaws that cause people of normal size to be cruel toward the obese ones.


And you can't say, if you cut they do not they bleed, cause I'm pretty sure, if you cut them, grease comes out.

For the same reason they insult anyone about anything, it makes them feel good about themself. Some people are chronic smartasses who just think they're cool.They're not. They're insecure assholes.
