there are people who own large cats in the states. i know that for a fact because ive seen it on a documentary. but they had to go through the motions of securing a license to breed and house them, and its a difficult and costly venture. its definitely not something the average person can do. you cant just wake up one day and say ' I want a lion.' theres a process to it and i think the people had made it their lifes dream to raise big cats so obviously they had a lot invested in it. im not saying its not possible, but youd have to be pretty well off to own one. good luck tho. send me some pics when u get one ;)

1- It's illegal
2- Most insurance companies will drop you the second you buy one.
3- You are liable for any damage or injury the cat causes (and it will cause both)
4- Lions eat hundreds of pounds of raw meat per year. Go to your supermarket and check out the prices for a pound of beef, chicken, etc. You will be paying tens of thousands of dollars just for food.
5- Most big cat owners are mauled to death by their pet in the first 2 years, or they ship them off to a rescue because they realize how stupid they were in the first place.
6- Lions are not big housecats. They don't want you to pet them. Their idea of play is pouncing on you with 500+ pounds of body weight.
7- If you call yourself an animal lover, you would realize how terrible a life it is for a wildcat to be caged, fed killed meat, and be deprived of the social life they enjoy in the wild.

Buy a housecat and have it shaved to look like a lion.

Even if it is legal in your state / country, don't do it. Lions are wild animals and meant to be out in the wide open spaces, not held captive in a cage so that your friends can admire them.

I know that in most places it is illegal to own exotic animals unless you have a license and know how to properly take care of them. Think through with that though because they are very big and aren't meant to be tame. Good luck either way.

First you will need to obtain a wild animal license and then you will have to build a proper containment for your lion... and I think you have to have it approved... then you can buy the lion.

I'm sure there is a way...just takes money. Lions are not pets...they are wild animals and one day your cute Lion pet will eat you for no apparent reason. Also they don't purr.

I am not sure but there was this guy like 15 miles from where I live that had tigers in a cage and took care of them and some chick was taking care of his tigers and did something to startle them and they went off on her and it wasn't good and after that they took the tigers away from him and put them in a zoo.

It is illegal to own wild animals. They can't be tamed to be safe around people. They also suffer very much from not being in their environment with other animals of their breed.
