I have done some extensive research on the area. It depends what you do? LIke to do, & where you live. But generally NO. The computer fields though all pretty much run together. If I was you start in a few basic computer fields & then see if you like it. It is definetely a field that is gonna continue to grow in the U.S. You can do many different things.
Depending on your Age & location I could steer you in the right direction.

I'd say it's good as a hobby, but not as a career. Chances are those kinds of jobs will go to India or China anyway, so you're gonna be left out without much other options.
I'd say go into Business if you want a good, relatively stable career choice, and learn how to build web pages on your own.

Absolutely. It's still a lucrative business. The money is to be made by having your own business.
Be careful though. The web is getting more and more complex pages now have Mega Bites of content embedded in them. The pages are expected to be easy to read, to stand out to have funky content BUT still be fast. The sort of level you should aim for to compete seriously, is this sort of thing.....

Good Luck to ya if you do go for it.

Definitely.
I just finished a 6-day web development course and an orientation into Dreamweaver MX 2006.
It's cool.
If you got imagination.....Go for it. Add other skills like photography, video-editing and journalism.
Peace.

There is a lot of money in it but you have to be good. I do freelance web development. Sometimes things are good and you have a lot of clients and sometimes they are not. It would be a good idea to have an alternative just in case.

If you go into it, learn on your own or apprentice with someone. Stay away from scam schools that charge you 8000-15000, you'll be paying it off forever and the training sucks.
