I had a friend give me a laptop as a computer for my home. After I boot the username & password he provided me does not let me logon into the XP operating system. Does anyone know how to reset the user name & password or a work around pass the logon screen.

Restart the computer and tab F8 until you see a menu.
Let windows Load, then log in as Administrator.
You can then change users+passwords through there

Go into safe mode and then open the control panel. Select user options and change the password there.
