Too many good ones to list... Beatles is best.

Maybe you should have asked who is considered the worst bands of all time. Some of the music I hear today won't be played again ever after the next 5 years, unlike the Beatles music which is timeless.

1950's Elvis, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly
1960's The Who, The Doors, Jimi Henrix
1970's Led Zep, Pink Floyd, AC/DC, Aerosmith
1980's Metallica, Guns n Roses, Aerosmith (again)
1990's Tool, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains
Curently? idk maybe AFI, Blue October, Porcupine Tree, Buckcherry, and System of a Down

After reading other people's responses I have to say that there are way too many good artists to come up with a really good and definitive answer in one sitting. Great answers all down the board. Good work people!
