Why are Republicans so sqeamish on the following issues?

* Abortion
* Illegal immigration
* Race quotas
* National language = English

Republicans seem all too afraid of offending constituents. But if they're tentative on the aforementioned issues, they compromise the party platform.

Too often they run from the abortion debate. They try to lure Hispanic voters by pulling punches on a national language or illegal immigration. And how many times have prominent Republicans compromised their own party by touting Condoleeza Rice and Colin Powell as high-level blacks in the Bush administration. Aren't Republicans supposed to be color blind?

Whew, you like the hot ones, don't you? If it has a hearbeat, is it alive? A baby's heartbeat can be heard after only two weeks gestation. Most women don't even know they are pregnant this early. Call it a baby, or whatever, but if it has a heartbeat and you kill it, it is murder. Let me ask you a question. Why is it that abortion does not kill a baby, but yet, if the mother takes drugs while pregnant it is called child abuse? Is it a child or not? Even the government can't make up their mind. Illegal immigration, hmmmm. ILLEGAL. What's the issue here? If a person breaks the law, they should be punished. Immigration is not the problem, it's the illegal part that's the problem. Race quotas: that's not from Republicans, that's from people of color like Oprah who insist on keeping prejudice alive. Who gives a crap what color your skin is? Does your heart beat and does your blood run red? That's all that should matter. As for your comment on Republican's supposing to be color blind: I am a blonde haired white woman who has adopted two very adorable black children. I didn't choose them because of their skin, I chose them because they are human and are siblings. Our son came to us privately and three days before he turned a year old, the hospital called to say there had been another baby born. We chose to keep them together. Back to your topic: The National language is English, like it or not. I cannot go to Germany and expect English to be all over the billboards or for the locals to learn my native tongue. I bet products in the grocery store are written in German. The same thing would apply to Italy, Mexico, Scandanavia, where ever. Why is it an issue here. You come to America, learn the native language; English. I don't see what the issue is.

I am a republican, and yes sometimes it makes me angry that the Republicans try to please the democrats.
I do believe that abortion is wrong, It's murder!
Illegals can;t vote anyway, so why would they try to appease them. I think on that issue they are trying to be fair, if it is at all possible. Please the illegals and you have the legals mad at you! Or versa visa.
As for racial quotas. and touting Condalisa and Colin Powell. They are very smart people and if you look at how many blacks Clinton had in office when he was president and how many the republicans have. The Republicans win! It seems that the republicans have to point this out as, the Democrats are not colored blind.
As for the national language it should be English, and that seems to have been an issue for a long time, weather Democrats or Republicans were in office!

Here's why:

Abortion - because it's not really the majority of Conservatives that want to see abortion abolished or even addressed - they could care less. It's the minority Christian right that is up in arms over this. So...the conservatives try to keep on the fence about the issue - talking about it as if they are going to do something, but not actually doing anything. Which is fine with me. Plus, I thought Conservatives were supposed to be all about the government not getting involved - and leaving things like this up to the States. So...if they listen to the minority Right Wing Christians, they might upset normal, average conservatives who vote for them. (Funny that they are always talking about Liberals being on the fence about matters.)

Illegal Immigration - Most Republican voters are against illegal immigration. Republican politicians only pretend to be against it because they know that's what their supporters want to hear. Big Companies benefit monetarily from the low wage labor provided by illegal immigrants. These big companies pass on that monetary gain to the Republican politicians - so they can't really do anything about the issue. If they do what their supporters want them to do, they will lose all that money from big corps. So...they only pretend that they are going to do something...knowing that it's enough for their blind followers. And they keep pocketing the funds from the corporations.

Race quotas - what on earth makes you think Republicans are color blind???

National language as English. They don't care about this. They would probably prefer that everyone speak Spanish except for them. Then they wouldn't have to worry about lying because no one would be able to understand them, but since most of their supporters just accept whatever they tell them as gospel it doesn't really make that much difference. Except that they could get the smart people to go along with whatever they said as well.

I'm a Republican...kinda...I'm under 16 so im not sure but Abortions is a big NO NO, lllegal immigration is a No No but the should be able to re enter legally. Race Quotas ? i dont get what ur saying And the National language is ENGLISH if you come to are country than make the effort to learn are language. And I'm not color blind.

They are looking for votes... to bad we can't find a Republican or independant that isn't so far out there that we could vote for them. Republicans are where dems were 40 years ago. Dems are way out there.

#1 - Abotion is a terrible thing, and a terrible decsion to have to make. Would not we all love for a child to be conceived in ideal circumstances? Would not it be grand if every mother could make the couragious choice of giving up their child for it's best interests? Well in all my years I have never met one who has the credentials for judging. It is becoming more obvious to me that the ones who judge most harshley have very little to base their ussumptions on.

These are complicated questions and very few take them lightly, but they are private decisions. America is based on FREEDOM and that means the FREEDOM to choose what you believe. PLEASE do not put your beliefs on me. I just want to survive in this world like anyone else. Unfortunately no one can walk in another's shoes. i.e. understand the reasons for their actions.

Since when did profiting off the abundance of America become illegal? We Europeans came here and made the most of it, who is to decide when it is to stop?

Race quotas? Anyone who is truly interested in the facts can trace a line of discrimination that is irrefutable. The Anglo man and his woman like to keep things the same, but as an Anglo woman I am not so sure that another answer would NOT serve us all.

Regardless of the history, America has been established as an English speaking country. We are, unlike any nation in the world, making accommodations, ??? bless America!!

What about abortion? It is a right for the couple to choose.
Illegals should be sent home and reenter legally.
Race Qoutas are discrimnatory. they have all but been banned in the Goverment.
