You can get some ear drops. Most of them will say for Swimmers ear right on it because Swimmers ear is common.
Its fairly simple you can go see a doctor if you wish and he will give you a proscription. But you can just speak to a pharmacist. How do you know you have swimmers ear??? There are other ear problems that look and feel the same.
MatrimonialH... <------ ya swimmers ear going away after an hour??? I don't think so. I happen to know for a fact that 90% of cases can last over a week and can cause very bad pain and sleepless nights.

my dtr just had swimmers ear & the dr gave abx orally & abx ear drops...the eent said hydrogen peroxide drops in the ear after swimming can help but white vinegar is better. I pour some in the cap, get a cotton ball, put 2-3 drops in the affected ear for a few seconds then have her 'tip' her head the other way for it to drain back out. may have to do twice in a row but it works! that is preventitive trtmnt after the antibiotics...

Lots of ez ways to PREVENT it. Once you have it, gotta see a doc. To keep from getting it though I recommend "Swimmers Ear" ear drops after swimming.

Go to a drug store and look for Swim-Ear. It's an ear-water drying aid. You should carry this stuff with you when you go swimming and put the drops in your ears immediately after.

Get some rubbing alcohol and put a few drops in your ear and let it sit for a few minutes, then do the other ear. Do it once a day.

Stick a kabob stick in one ear and pound it with a hammer until you can pull it out the other ear. The hole will let the pool water out the other side and the air will dry out the ear preventing infection. Worked for my friend---but he also gave up swimming too.

Eardrops and lie with that ear down, so it can drain.
Go see a doctor if you still have no relief after a couple of hours.

heating pad. the heat will help drain and dry the water out of your ear.
we as kids used to have to get out of the pool every so often and lay on our towels on the concrete, letting our ears drain and dry.
if you have already left the pool a heating pad will work, but the cement is quicker and does a better job.
