I use Aspen bedding made by Harlan. Pretty easy to clean up and looks better than newspaper.

I also feed my snakes in separate empty Sterilite containers to keep from accidentally ingesting the substrate.

I'm surprised so many people on here are saying aspen.. Go to your local reptile shop (NOT PETCO) and pic up some coconut husk.. its by far the best beading on the market for any kind of tropical species. aspen dose a terrible job holding in moisture and dose nothing to add humidity to your cage. also coco husk tends to absorb allot of the smell which is needless to say a good thing.

The best is probably newspaper, construction paper, or paper towels as you can see when they soil it and clean the entire cage right away. However, most people don't like it because it doesn't look that nice. You can use Aspen, Cypress, or one of the recycled paper products that are made for reptiles. Don't use anything made out of pine or cedar as they contain oils that are toxic to Balls. Also, don't use sand or gravel as that can lead to all sorts of problems if digested of if the sand gets under their scales.

Newspaper or paper towels work best. Easiest to clean and to see when you need to clean. If you want something more naturalistic, most pet stores carry "jungle mix" which is a blend of soil, sand, peat moss, vermiculite, orchid bark etc... It's not tooo messy, looks nice, and if you spray it (but don't drench it) it keeps the humidity up fairly well. I've used it on my rainbow boa for over a year now.

It depends, breeders use newspapers because it is easy to clean up. If it is only one you can recreate natural habitats as closely as possible. I use ecoearth which is compressed coconut bark, live plants, a bubbling water dish and two hides, one on the warm side one on the dry side.

When I put my snakes in quarantine I used paper towels in a Rubbermaid sweater box so it is extremely sanitary.

Probably, alpine shavings, or non-poisoning bark, but sometimes bark isnt good cuz the food may hide under the bark shavings, if it's small enough and live food. Call 6233760621 for petco.

Cyprus... It holds a lot of moisture which is vital for a healthy python. Also, unlike most other substrates, it does not promote molds or mildews which can kill your python.
