well definitely the happiest experience ive had was meeting my beautiful fiancee. ive never been to the philippines or really ever met filipinos before meeting my fiancee. she just happened to see my profile on myspace and hit me up after that. she said she liked my smile. we just started talking and it was awesome how much we had in common. we really got along and decided we wanted to be a couple. im stationed in Japan and shes in Manila so for the first 4 months that we were together, we didnt see each other. we just had the cam, email and phone but we kept close and our relationship grew strong over time. eventually i was able to take leave and visit her, meet her family, and just get closer. i was in love with her before i met her in person, but meeting her and spending that time really secured my feelings for her. i was head over heels and i knew there was no way i was gonna let her go. so after i got back, i proposed to her and she accepted ;) weve been engaged for a few months now. well be having our ceremony in november and then ill try to get a tourist visa for her so she can come here to visit. but yeah, for a guy from a small town in PA, meeting and marrying a filipina is not something i ever thought of, but shes the most beautiful girl ive ever met, and the reason i traveled the philippines. its a beautiful country and the people there are the friendliest ive ever met. when i retire from the military were planning on moving there and getting a place in Tagaytay. I cant wait ;)

Well I am English, but I now live in Cebu, with my Filipina wife, so obviously my most unforgettable experience was meeting her by sheer chance, the meetings and partings, joy and sorrow. Incidentally that was the best thing that happened to me in my entire life. Apart from that it was on my first visit here a quarter of a century ago, I was on the bus from Toledo to Cebu, and the bus stopped for a while. There was a fisherman standing on a rock, twirling his net that had a rope attached, he would release the net to the sea and haul it back in. I always remember that moment, like the words from Island In The Sun, I see man at the water side, Casting nets at the rising tide. The Philippines is beautiful, it's people are beautiful, I have seen so much worthy of note, but that on my first visit was so defining.

Didn't affect me personally, but I witnessed a Filipino kid at my high school be attacked by a Filipino gang in front of the school. He was beaten with chains and blades and had to be hospitalized and I've never seen him again. His dad is my optometrist though.

for me it is an easy one...I was at a formal black tie event and things were going right along... I was conversing with some friends and some others (filipino's) close by were commenting in there lingo. (rude i might add) after about 15 min. of there behavior my friend and i also started to speak the lingo between us! needless to say they wanted to drop out of site...instead we followed them ALL NIIGHT seaking to them and "helping" thier conversations. I/E correcting thier grammer errors in thier lingo, ECT!!!

I had a crush on Kirk Hammett (Metallica's lead guitarist) back in middle school. He's half Filipino. My crush on his was definitely ridiculous!

most unforgettable--First time in a bar in Angeles City. Had my pick of all of those beautiful girls. 2hours upstairs--they call it a "short time" for 12.00 dollars. I highly recommend it! And suck down some Red horse while you are there.
