That's 5 more than a lot of people who've been here all their lives...why are you desperate? Is there a minimum number of friends you need to feel comfortable?
I have probably 4 real good friends, and a fair number of more casual friends and acquaintences...it takes time...when you get out more where you can meet people, you'll start making more friends...
You didn't tell us how old you are or where in the states you live...that might've been helpful for others to give you 'friend making' tips...

Keyword is "just". Friendship takes time. 2 years 3 years, 5 years. Just make contacts everywhere you go. 10 a week. 20 a week. Join a club, a class....soon contacts will turn to casual aquaintance to friend, to close firends, to buddy.

Life is not all about friends. Count your blessings and you shouldn't be depressed.
Did you want to come to America? If so be thankful that you are here. What did you leave behind? War and starvation? If so, be thankful you are here.
Be thankful for you sight, you ability to speak, think, to be free. Be thankful for the beauty around you. For your sense of smell, your sense of taste.
There are so many things to be greatful for. Count your blessings and you won't have time to be depressed.

Its just a matter of time. Try to join some club or look if there is a new commers club in your town.

Go to clubs or something.
Do you go to school?
If you do ask someone for a pencil or something.But make sure to know their name and start saying hi whenever u see them

its ok to only have 5 friends kuz sumtimes u cnt trust ppl and sumtimes ppl arent rlly ur friend evn if they say tey are
