Thanks for posting this. I saw this commercial for the first time yesterday and it's awesome. AppleKK I think you missed the point about the ad. Yes they have people of different cultures and ethnicities in some ads, but you almost never see them showing an interracial couple. This was a one in a million. The other thing I noticed and I'm sure many Afr. Amer women will have noticed this too: The woman they used was not a light skinned girl. She was darker. This is another great thing about this ad because I know that most of the time they use light skinned girls like they're saying that if you're Black you can only be beautiful if you're light skinned. So I'm glad they showed an interracial couple and they made the statement by finally showing a woman of a darker complexion. Even if they are trying to be PC, nobody else is, so good for Old Navy.

Well if the white guy got the goods while the black guy lost out people would call it racist. The world still has a long way to go to figure out what EQUALITY really means. But then again I think white people need to learn what it feels like to be the minority and made to feel inadequate based on skin tone. Not as a guilt thing but more as a tool to learn compassion towards what others go through.

It's racism. If they did it the other way around, the non white people portrayed as the clown in the ad would complain about racial stereotyping. They don't realize that to do it ONLY to white people is also racial stereotyping. Well, some realize it and that's where the racism comes in. Seeing people for their race and making decisions based on race is part of racism. So all this reverse racism and fake white guilt and do the either or thing is continuation of racism. The best thing would be for them to have better commercials, and when there are people in clown positions, vary the races.

What about the countless number of tv shows with the few black characters either being bad guys or acting like complete idiots? There are specific commercials and tvs shows designed to make each race feel proud while degrading another so that race will watch that tv show or buy that product.

Maybe you should ask Jessie Jackson and his rainbow gang, or dis-affirmative acting, or the Block Caucus or any other number of groups who are trying to further a particular race instead of trying to become part of the 'melting pot".
Has all the sounds and signs of "Reverse Discrimination"

The Whites In Media PAC (WIMP) has not lobbied congress successfuly, and white men still are not considered a protected class. One day, white men will rise above their opressors in the media, and will be portrayed properly - as the titans of business and industry, and masters of their world, while those who twisted societiy's perceptions of white men to suit their own idea of justice will be fortunate if they are retained for boot-licking.

I don't think it has to do all with guilt, I'm white I have no guilt but I LOVE seeing stupid white people tricks.
It's about time to laugh at the stupid white guy/girl.
Come on......the majority of white guys CAN'T dance....they're the BEST to laugh at ;)

chill...
there is a commercial where three men are being served burgers in a zoo...ok, so one is black...
I remember the movies in the 30's and 40s where blacks had to play maids and act like the fool...
just grab the hand of the person next to you and sing kumbalya.

if it was the other way around, someone would say its a racist commercial. and the white people probably run the companies and dont care what people think, because they're getting richer and richer.
