It's easier than learning HTML to create your own site. It's also free and many people use it to keep in touch with friends or find dates and even network with other people in their industry or field of work. Many bands use MySpace to get people to listen to their music and many companies use it to promote new products. There are over 98 million people (users) on MySpace and it's still growing.

I don't know why myspace is so popular. I watch the news all the time and everytime that I hear about someone getting kidnapped, murdered, or making death threats, about 90% of the time, it's somehow linked to myspace. I've tried myspace, and personally I didn't find anything spectacular about it. If I want to keep in contact with my friends, I use my messengers and my phone.

Networking. Making new friends. In my experience, I use it to contact my cousins and lost lost friends I haven't seen in a while. Things I wouldn't have done without myspace.
