you should not only eat when you're really famished.it should be when you think it's right.develop a regular eating pattern.eat slowly and not gobble.that way, overeating would not be an issue.

It won't be easy. You probably love eating more than you want good health. Your family irritates you but you really don't care right now because that Krispy Cream donut tastes soooo good. Those love grips on your hips don't bother you because that greasy hamburger from the Jack in the Box is just around the corner to put a smile on your face..
You're probably pretty young and don't have children to care about being embarrassed by your extra pounds. Yeah, they'll be embarrassed but won't say anything because they love you.
But wait what if you cared about yourself to know your family cares you and they don't want to lose you to diabetes, heart disease, ridicule, and all the crap that comes with being over weight, no fat. So to answer your question. Get some help since you can't do it on your own. Ask your doctor. And don't listen to all those fat people telling you how happy they are. Just love me the way I am crap.
Love yourself enough to get healthy.

You need to find the reason WHY you overeat. Overeating is ALWAYS emotionally involved. What you've got is called "comfort eating", meaning when you are sad, or depressed, or emotionally upset, you overeat. What's bad is this started when you were very young, like all overeaters. You've learned at an early age that eating makes you feel better. It's especially bad when the food you eat is "junk food". Think about this. Think about what's going through your mind when you have the urge to eat. Write it down if you have to. Remember, overeating is PURELY pschological.

You need to find out why you're overeating. You are aware of your problem, that's the first step in helping change your eating pattern. Keep a journal & keep track of your feelings so, you become aware when you start slipping. Be patient with yourself, you don't have to be perfect.

Every time I begin to overeat, I stop myself and ask, "Do I really need this food? Am I really hungry, or do I just want it?" Usually I just want it and it shames me into not eating it.

sometimes visualization is the best medicine.
I took pictures of myself and my problem areas and put them on a collage w/ pictures of someone I aspire to look like.
It keeps me focused on my goals and no one elses.
