and disrespectful when fans throw their beer cans and trash onto the track and at the winner of a race? I saw it with Kenseth fans throwing stuff on the track after Gordon won and I saw it yesterday when Jimmie Johnson won.

It is very rude- but after having been to a race I learned that there is a lot of bad sportsmanship out there. I was surprised at how people booed when drivers they did not like went by- especially during driver introductions. Then when the race was over they booed when their guy did not win. You don't have to like the outcome, but at least show good sportsmanship.

NASCAR fans are not rednecks, at least not the ones who go to the races. It is too expensive to go to the races- a true redneck could not always go to the races. To those who think NASCAR fans are redencks, I hope you get stuck on a plane full of them on their way to a race- then talk about how NASCAR is a redneck sport.

It's NASCAR Fan, what do you expect?

Their yards looks identical to the race track after it's over, beer cans, trash and car parts everywhere. That's why NASCAR uses trailers in the infield, so everybody feels at home.

Educated fans know well enough to watch the race from home, so you don't breathe exhaust and burning rubber all day long and also don't run the risk of getting t-boned by some idiots in an alcoholic stupor named Bubba and Ray-Ray driving in their 1974 Chevy Rust-bucket with Naked Lady chrome mud flaps and "Calvin pissing on the number 20" decal in the back window.

Get well soon BP, we're all pulling for you.

It's ignorant! I posted a similar question when they did it to Gordon! No wonder people think Nascar fans are trash, it's because all they know are fans like that! It gives us all a bad name and the sport! Not to mention they are disrespecting the track and in this case the track is a historical landmark! It pissed me off so bad, both times, booing is one thing...that's as far as it should go, frankly I even find that childish! They should make the people leave and hit them with a large fine and make them clean the entire track as community service!

Yes I do. I like Matt but I will never throw beer cans onto the track. That is so rude to the winner of the race.

Yes, it irritates the holy begessus out of me. I'll tell you what. I was in the stands screaming my freakin head off..and hoping my driver would win. In the end he had a great run, but not a win. I was a little disappointed that JJ won, but I'll say this.. he came from the back and his team got the car dialed in and they obviously figured out a program to get him that win..and so when he went around I clapped. Can't say that I cheered a whole lot, but I did give him the props he deserved, and I have to say he might have even won a bit of my respect back b/c he really did seem to be understing the "Life is a Team Sport" motto better.

I was at Talladega the year they threw so much stuff on the track at Gordon.....although i felt they had the right to be mad......they shouldn't have done that and yes it's bad sportsmanship. That **** isn't called for, AT ALL. As for this weekend.......at least at Talladega i knew why they were mad.....but this weekend......i failed to see the reason why anybody was mad....except that their driver didn't win or that they dont like him....hell i dont like gordon or johnson, but i'm not going to act like some immature little kid and throw a fit and throw things just b/c my driver didn't win. it's immature and ridiculous.

Its not just Nascar Fans.....Football fans can be just as bad . Raider fans throw batteries.. Browns fans throw Dog Biscuits....There have been snow balls in Denver....etc. The amount of alcohol does play a part in it. But really people are very aggressive about sports and there teams or drivers... it has happened in baseball, football, soccer, hockey, basketball so dont think its only race fans.....its fans in general

Yeah it's stupid and disrespect full but I'm kind of glad that it's happened at some tracks besides Talladega makes me feel a little bit better about when they did the same thing here.

Yes, it just shows how stupid people really are. These so called race fans are the reason we all are called rednecks. This is what happens when you mix sports with drinking, a bunch off dumba**es throwing things. I wish they could learn how to act in public, before they ruin it for everyone else.

Totally.

I think the beer that gets drunk has a lot to do with it.
Plus It is a tough crowd and their egos say they have to act tough, only to me it is childish and stupid.
I love the race though Yay Jimmie...

Mark Martin is my fav.
