Unfortunately, the American media tends to focus on large market teams. They have lots of stories on teams from New York, Boston, Los Angeles, etc., but often tend to ignore smaller markets unless that team is doing particularly well (for example, the San Antonio Spurs would get almost no coverage in the national media if they weren't a good team). Add to that the fact that Toronto is in Canada, and you get very little coverage for the Blue Jays.
I'm sorry to tell you, but there are only three ways that you can get more coverage for your beloved Jays: 1.) The team starts to do really well, 2.) You move closer to Toronto near the border, or 3.) You get an extended satellite or cable subscription that allows you to get local channels closer to Toronto.

For Texan... Toronto is the 4th largest TV market in North America, and even by having to drive around the lake it's only about 100km (61 miles) from the border, how much closer do you want?
As for answering the question, I have never understood the reason why so many Canadians feel the need to be recognized by the American media to feel justified. Canada's got TSN, Sportsnet, and the Score. You want Blue Jay highlights, watch one of those channels.
As for the play of the day, how many sports are being played all over North America, let alone the world on any given day?
Living just outside of Toronto, I know you're getting baraged by hockey news 12 months of the year. How many stories and or highlights have you seen from the Columbus Blue Jackets? They are an NHL team and most of their players are Canadian.
TV is all about ratings and making money. In order to maximize your ratings you have to cater to your biggest demographic. And as wierd as this may sound, Canadian viewers are not ESPN's,or TWIB's largest viewing demographic.
And for the record I was born and raised in the GTA.

on the same time as I consider you that the throwing of trash on the sector is an illustration of unfavourable sportsmanship, and ask your self why it took see you later for an announcement to be made, I additionally ask your self why everyone could think of that the habit of a few boneheads reflects a team's finished fan base. I incredibly discover it curious coming from a Tigers fan who probably is a Detroit interior of sight. is this the same Detroit the place riots broke out after the Tigers gained the worldwide sequence in 1984? the same Detroit that grew to become into trashed after the Pistons gained the NBA call in 1989? the same Detroit the place the followers threw plenty stuff on the Pacers that Ron Artest ended up going into the stands (Nov. 19, 2004). Or the same Detroit who's' hockey team's maximum enjoyed custom contains throwing an octopus on the ice till now a playoff interest? My factor is that each and each single team , in spite of what city or interest, has some genuine morons as followers. to decide an entire team's fan base on the movements of a few isn't in basic terms astounding short sided, it is barely as ignorant as judging a race of human beings by ability of the movements of a few.

I agree..they were really getting close to the Sox and Yanks a few weeks ago, but since they have fallen an dthe Yanks have gottenhot. I thinkit is a shame b/c Wells is having an MVP season but ESPN shows only 3-4 teams on their games, the Red sox and yanks, the White Sox and then once in awhile an NL game either Cards or Mets...they ar ethe main reaosn the MVP will go to Ortiz, b/c every time the guy gets up they say, he has to be the MVP, but Wells is never on so they never realy bring his name into it
I appauld you for sticking up for you team, and hope but doubt it will change

i agree with you---but its not just that but all the teams that are not on the east or west coast -seem to be overlooked. Being a Tigers fan--i have heard hardly nothing about them for many years-except for now-since they are just plain AMAZING!!....but its so true NYC , BOSTON, dodgers, and Giants get the lions share of the media attention

Unfortunately, they are in the same division as the Yanks and "Sawx", the two teams who comprise, arguably, the best rivalry in sports, let alone baseball.
