I would STOP looking at HP and start looking at Toshiba. They are quite awesome. Their tech support is faster. Toshiba's are more reliable. Their dealers know the product better.

Go for it.

I prefer HP laptops, so I like your pick. If you are gonna travel with it, spring for the extended warrantee, even if you have to settle for a little less. Laptops break easy, and they are expensive to repair. I'd say a gig of RAM will do you. Look for Media edition, DVD player, big screen. Set some money aside for student edition of Microsoft Office if you want to use it for school. You won't have much $ left after that, but all laptops do wireless these days, and surf the net. If you got special games you like to play, check their requirements against the graphics card. It's almost impossible to upgrade the graphics on a laptop. Good Luck!

I would go with a Dell or Toshiba becuase of there tech support/warranty. I thnink 2-3ghz processor, with atleast 1gb of ram (for youre gaming needs) an Ati-Radeon video card is a must for gaming (most dells come with ati radeon video cards) I would also suggest atleast 256mb on the graphics card. My opinion is to go with a 15' screen becuase it will save you $ and if you are traveling alot a 17' gets to be too much. Also look into warranty that is key, you're going to have problems with youre laptop (everyone does) and they are quite expensive to fix. I think 150gb hddrive will be enough space for youre games and movies. I think you should be able to get all that and have some $$ left over for accesories. Best of luck, and like I said I would'nt get an HP.
