Crooked politicians, unions and business concerns doing nothing but lining their pockets while the people who live here have no choice but to move elsewhere to find jobs and lower taxes.
The city I grew up in has lost an average of 1500 families (not just individuals) a month moving out over the last ten years. Those who stay are facing higher taxes as the political machine grinds on instead of cutting itself back.
The net result is that the poorer people can't afford to move, there are fewer jobs and crime goes up.
What was once a showcase and major hub of activity dies. Greed and shortsightedness rules.
I would like there to be a public accounting of each branch of government and all departments to be scaled back to suit the lower population. Trim the career civil servants who I have personally seen taking three hour lunches and using city and town vehicles on personal errands and as take home vehicles - that the city fills the tanks of!
Limit terms for city council members to four years. Make it a felony with mandatory jail time for BOTH parties involved in bribery of a public official.
Make public the amount of spending - the public school I worked at spent THOUSANDS of dollars on equipment that went unused until it was tossed as useless years later - Computer parts still in their shrink wrapping - Why? To justify getting the same budget for the next year!
Government irresponsibility and waste that has driven the local businesses into other states and often other countries.
Hold EVERY politician accountable and NEVER accept "that's the way it's done" as an answer.
And I don't want this done just where I live I want it done across the country. If this is supposed to be the land ofthe free and people have the right to choose who represents them, then WE THE PEOPLE are responsable for who is in any office. Demand that YOUR voted officials do their jobs or LOOSE their jobs!

Well, I would get rid of people like Leogirl and people who agree with her ideas. She reminds me of Ann Coulter (yuck - I almost threw up in my mouth).
First of all, the "boom" she is talking about is only in the suburbs. The urban areas DO NOT GET A PENNY. The suburbanites spend their money in their own neighborhood. Real estate is being done in the suburban areas (I haven't heard of "gated communities" in Detroit, Cleveland, or other areas in urban cities - major or minor. So you know where you can stick your penny.
Businesses need to be brought into the urban neighborhoods, Medicare needs to be fixed to where those who are in need get it (insurance and medicine co-pays need to be non-existent), give a penalty tax to the big businesses that want to have their items made in sweatshops and have the nerve to sell it back to the American citizens for infinite times more than it was made, start raising government spending for the mentally ill and the poor and less for big business (welfare is approximately 1% of the debt, yet CORPORATE WELFARE is more than 7%). By the way, many want to work, but what kind of incentive do you give when it cost someone less to be on welfare, but when they begin to work again, they are no longer qualified for assistance (childcare, section 8 assistance, utility assistance, etc).
The bad part is that is only the start....

here in birmingham alabama we have a community with virtually no mass transit.
instead of giving the leader of maxx, the local mass tasnsit authority another $30,000 a year to run a service where most of the busses are falling apart, i'd give him a $32 A month bus pass so he could betterseefor himself where the true problems are.
let himgo undercover, too,and not with bunch of bodyguards and news photographers.
then maybe the busses would run better and maybethe city could find the money the firemen and policemen have been asking for for a 3 per cent per annum raise for years.

The young people are ignored.....there's no place for them to gather and have harmless fun in a safe and secure environment....they go to deteriorating schools with outdated books.....they see so much violence they are numb. I can't even image trying to grow up and make something of themselves when the deck is so stacked against them. Our government should be ashamed.
This isn't part of my immediate community but I see and read about this every day.

My main problem with urban area's is the people who live there. I would relocate them to rural area's, and let them draw their own water.

Rally different contributors to wrestle hostile to it. Then inspire persons to come back to the competition from different places. we stay in a rustic said as the USA of a. we are loose to compete hostile to at least one yet another in a loose marketplace. If there's a thanks to get rid of that man or woman from the committee, i could do so. Bullying persons can in straightforward words very last so long. Get human beings to face in the back of you and get your palms dirty. from time to time that is the in straightforward words way! the following is something else i found that could help at artwork. You get bullied at artwork Arthur H. Bell, Ph.D., author of you won't be able to confer with Me That way: "Years in the past, out of nowhere, my boss walked as a lot as me and bellowed, 'What precisely do you imagine you're turning out to be paid for?' Then he kicked a trash can and slammed his door. i needed to shout back, yet I sat very much shocked and red-confronted as my colleagues stared at me." fix it quickly: do not wrestle anger with anger; that could merely rile an incensed man or woman more effective. truly, vent in the back of closed doorways to a depended on chum to achieve attitude. yet do not shy away from warfare of words; in case you wait too lengthy, a progression will set in. next time: the subsequent day, meet inclusive of your boss and say, "i am going to work out you're disillusioned. in case you let me recognize what's incorrect, we are able to hit upon a thanks to remedy the region."
