This is an excellent question. I wish I really knew the answer but I truly don't. I don't know if I could even take a guess. This has been a dilemma for me for months now and I'm beaten down by it. I would prefer to just know the true facts and be done with it than go through the emotional turmoil. It's terrible....Love to know the reason and the answer.......

In tort law, the law of negligence (slip & fall & all that), everyone is held to a "reasonable person" standard. It applies differently in different contexts, but there's always some minimum standard of "common sense" that everyone must satisfy ... or, themselves be "at fault" if harmed.
Ultimately, it's about economics of information. Law looks to who was in the best position to get the information necessary to avoid the harm ... and holds them responsible, accordingly.
So, sometimes, ignorance IS an excuse ...e.g, when manufacturers are held liable for failure to warn ignorant consumer of a hidden danger in a product.
Although this is a legal perspective, the economics (and ethics) of information and risk avoidance are generally applicable to almost any situation.

I also wish I knew the answer to this question!
Looks like I lost two friends for something I didn't even know about, apparently FOR NO REASON. I actually saw it coming before, though I had no idea what it was. Once I asked one of them to go and try to resolve the issue between them WITHOUT me, without involving me - I felt though it must be something irrelevant and minor, and I was sure I had absolutely nothing to do with it.
Well, looks like I had, cause otherwise I'd still be friends with them, or not?
Boooooo down on both of them.
Damm their ignorance of my feelings, damm their cruelty, their envy, their bitter remarks and damm their rotten minds, altogether!!!
Luckily I managed to find a way to get rid of all the hurt they caused me and to make up for all the time I lost on them. Sad story.

That's life. If you can get all the way through to death due to old age, without getting nailed by a typhoon, or a drunk driving a 10 wheeler into your living room, you have beaten the odds. Good luck to ya!

Take some time to learn whatever it is you don't know. Then you will have no worries of consequence.

Because if you look deeper, knowing is something you're supposed to do, i.e. if they're set laws and regulations.
Natural selection. Survival of the fittest. Nature is against the weak.

Christ's words were " father forgive them, for they know not what they are doing". I think that speaks for itself.
