It is a site that says they scan and clear away viruses, worms etc. I did the scan and it said that there were problems detected but I had to pay to find out what and to take care of it. Now, is that true? Or could this be something to get me to pay (This one is very expensive) Also does anyone know if that site is ligit? I am asking because my computer has been acting very weird since the scan. Please help!

McAfee Site Advisor doesn't say that it is a fraud site so... I guess not. But get some other peoples opinion before just relying on a few people.

ALSO

Go to walmart and get McAfee Virus scan, there is one that you can get that has virus scan and firewall. Thats probably the best thing you can do.

I personally don't know anything about stopsign, but if I were you, I would get an antivirus program like Norton Antivirus. I think you can download it. I got it when I bought my computer. I pay for it yearly. I also got Webroot spysweeper to keep any spyware off my computer. I haven't had any problems with either of them. You pay yearly on them. If you can't download them, you can buy the programs at walmart or best buy, or pretty much anywhere. If you already have an antivirus program, you don't want to run more than one because they can compete against each other and confuse your computer. I wouldn't spend money on something I wasn't sure about.

I downloaded the trial software from stopsign.com and it said I had something like 44 infections. Funny thing is, I have Norton Anti-Virus, which is a well known virus software, and it didn't detect the same items. I would suggest that if you are going to pay for software to protect your system, go with a well known. Some of them cost less than stopsign. Try Norton or McAfee. Symantec has Norton for 39.99. It's never let me down!

Don't trust any website that isn't a major manufacturer like Microsoft or Mcafee. I would recommend that you purchase software to scan with like Mcafee or Norton. I prefer Mcafee internet security suite. You can get it at Wal Mart for about $40 and it works very well and is user friendly.

I know that eAccerleration, the company that I guess makes the stopsign.com stuff, is a legitimate company. I had a friend that worked there years ago, and I have been inside their office. I even see commercials sometimes. I do not know anything about that software specifically and how well it works though.
