I want to install a thing on my computer that will keep anything nasty and vulgar from popping up or coming onto my computer and with ease (and am not computer literate, at least not when it comes to this) set it up to what I would prefer it blocking. You know, basically I don't want any kind of lewd pics or sites and if you search something online, sometimes you get not so good sites in the search results if you aren't careful. I want to be able to surf the net without worrying about this crap.

Alot of users on here, including me, like Firefox. However, it is an internet browser, but it does filter out alot of stuff and prevents pop-ups. It's easy and free to download :

There are lots of them out there. Just remember if you pay nothing, you may very well get exactly what you paid for, nothing.

We have 3 kids in our house and we have the same concerns that you do.
We found a program called Cyber Sitter. It costs about $40 but it's a wonderful program that protects your kids. The filter can be customized any way you like it. It even can bet set to only allow the kids online during certain times of the day. A great program for the money.

If they are pop ups, then go to your browser, tools, pop up blocker, and set it to medium or high. Medium blocks most of them. After you alter the settings..clear your internet cache and history - that might also help.
download a good spyware programe - there are lots of them - some are free.
