Avery Johnson is a winner. He'll learn from his mistakes (if you ask me, that 5-minute interview on Radio ESPN is what did him in. They were up 2-0 and he sounded like he was gloating. It may have spurred the Heat enough to win the unbelievably and seemingly impossible feat of 4 games in a row - two on the Dallas home floor. We're talking the SECOND BEST team in the NBA here, not some struggling team with a losing season. Johnson is the best coach in my book. The Mavericks will be on a mission (Just like the Cowboys came back after losing the Super Bowl to the Colts to win it) and will win the World Championship.

It always depends on health. It's notoriously difficult to repeat as NBA or Conference champions because it's hard to stay healthy for two years in a row. However, the Mavericks look poised to do very well this year. I think it will come down to the Spurs and Mavericks again for the Western Conference title. Also, the Suns could be near the same level as those two if Amare Stoudemire comes back in full health. However, just as in 2005, the Suns probably do not have the defensive presence to compete in a seven game series with Dallas or San Antonio.
My prediction: San Antonio defeats Dallas in the Western Conference Finals in 6 or 7 games.
