I just had the same problem in my apartment.
The problem was that the "reversing valve" was stuck. This is a solenoid. The fan didn't come on because it's thermostat never warmed up enough to trip and switch it on.
I am assuming your unit is a air to air heat pump for both heating and cooling. If not it could also be your compressor or what is known as a expansion valve at fault.

The fan has tripped. Maybe needs a new switch. The unit could have suffered from a fluctaution in power supply as well thus the condenser that is reponsible for cool air is affected. Please turn off your unit from the main switch the remote is not a switch for power supply. When you use the remote current is still in the unit. Its simply the condenser or the fan ......

So the condenser is running? You can hear it? But the fan does not?
Replace the fan for about $145 if you have not burned up the compressor. The fans are readily available as they often fail.
Go to your local parts place FAST!

You may have to get a new compressor. If the unit is too small for the house of your size, you may want to consider getting a new unit all together.

You will have to replace the motor. It is called the condensor fan motor. Call around and get prices on changing it out. Expect $200 to $400.

Why do people who have no clue as to the answer post irrelevant info?
That's the Condenser Fan, you'll need to get a technician to fix it.

check to see if you have a fuse box on the outside, i have a fuse box and a dedicated circuit for the AC inside my basement, if the fuse/ breaker is ok, check at the fuse/breaker for current. if you have current but the fan still doesnt turn on, its probably time to call a heating/ cooling guy

Unless you truly wish to fix it yourself, the best way to deal with it is to call an authorized repair person for that brand of a/c.
