I've changed the plugs, checked the coils, replaced the carbs, checked for adequate fuel flow, checked the float height, and am now out of options. It'll do well over 250 k/ph, and does it easy. It seems to be pissing fuel into one cylinder, though, at idle, as there's a heap of splutter, and labour. The float needles seem to be seating fine, while the carbs are apart ???? , but the bike floods, sometimes, when it's been left sitting, for a while. It's driving me MAD !!!!!! I've even taken it to Kawasaki, and they were a load of DICK"S and said that there was nothing wrong. Am I missing something ? Any assistance, apart from " Just burn it", would be appreciated.

The floats seem like the most likely problem. I can't really tell without seeing your bike. Here are a couple of tests
-Remove all the floats. Let one sit in a container of gas to see if it actually floats. It could have a hole in it and leaks.
-With the float bowls off, connect a fuel supply to the carbs and raise a float to see it it actually stops the fuel. Fuel might be leaking around the float needle "seats".
-Put the bowls back on. Hold the carbs at the same angle as if they were mounted on the bike. Connect a fuel supply to see if they overflow.
-Check for tight or leaking intake valve on that cyl. Might just need an adjustment. If the valve was leaking, fuel would be blown back into the intake port.

1. Check the washer or "O" ring on your float needle valve is in good condition and not perished.
2. Check that the tip of the float needle valve does not have an annular groove around it, this is wear.
3. Check the float height on the bad carb against specs.
4. Check the diaphragm on the bad carb is not holed.
5. Check that the choke plunger is not stuck on the bad carb.

Another thing you might try. I had this problem with my '79 KZ. Turn off the fuel valve with the engine running and leave it running until it runs all the gas out of the carbs, then turn the fuel back on and see if it clears the problem. It worked for me. If not , definitely check your floats for leaks. Good luck.

have you done a carb sync yet ??? also maybe you have a bad float that sinks. just a couple of ideas. not sure if its got plastic floats but if it runs fine wide open then look at the float filling up with fuel and then sinking, especially after it sits
